Dieses Dokument definiert die Gebrauchseigenschaften von Trocknern und gibt die üblichen Verfahren zur Prüfung dieser Eigenschaften mit Bezug auf die Maschinenbeladung, den Energieverbrauch und die Produktionsmenge an. Es dient zur Orientierung bei der Erstellung von Kaufaufträgen für Trockner, deren nutzbares Nettovolumen der Trommel 1 000 dmł (Liter) bzw. 40 kg und mehr beträgt. Außerdem wird es zur Bestimmung des Energieverbrauchs und der Produktionsmenge entsprechend der Richtlinie 2009/125/EG empfohlen. Darüber hinaus beschreibt die Norm Standardverfahren für die Messung grundlegender Gebrauchseigenschaften von gewerblichen Trocknern. Sie behandelt keine Sicherheits-anforderungen (siehe EN ISO 10472-4).
