Diese Europäische Norm legt Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Festigkeit und Dauerhaltbarkeit für alle Arten von Sitzmöbel-Konstruktionen fest, ohne Berücksichtigung von Werkstoffen, Gestaltung/Konstruktion oder Herstellungsverfahren. Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für Kinderhochstühle, Tisch-Hängesitze und Badesitze, die durch andere Europäische Normen abgedeckt werden. Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung von Alterung, Qualitätsminderung, Ergonomie und elektrischer Funktion sind nicht enthalten. Die Prüfverfahren sind nicht dazu vorgesehen, die Dauerhaltbarkeit von Polsterungen und Bezügen zu bewerten. Diese Europäische Norm enthält keine Anforderungen. Die Anforderungen für verschiedene Verwendungsbereiche sind in anderen Normen enthalten.
