Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Bezeichnungssystem für Magnesium und Magnesiumlegierungen, einerseits durch Nummern und andererseits durch Kurzzeichen, für Gussstücke einschließlich Anoden und Blockmetalle, zum Umschmelzen fest. Das Bezeichnungssystem mit Nummern ist nur auf genormtes Magnesium und Magnesiumlegierungen anwendbar (siehe 2.1). Das Bezeichnungssystem mit Kurzzeichen ist anwendbar auf a) genormtes Magnesium und Magnesiumlegierungen (siehe 2.1); b) nicht genormtes Magnesium und Magnesiumlegierungen (siehe 2.2).
