Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen an Herstellung, Gebrauchstauglichkeit und Prüfung von Notausgangsverschlüssen fest, die mechanisch entweder über einen Drücker oder eine Stoßplatte betätigt werden und für Anwendungsfälle vorgesehen sind, in denen die Entstehung einer Paniksituation unwahrscheinlich ist. Die vorliegende Europäische Norm legt keine besondere Konstruktion eines Notausgangsverschlusses fest; es sind nur die Maße festgelegt worden, die aus Gründen der Sicherheit erforderlich sind. Diese Europäische Norm behandelt keine besonderen Notausgangsverschlüsse, die für die Benutzung durch schwer behinderte Personen vorgesehen sind. Wegen der Vielfältigkeit von Behinderungen sollten solche Notausgangsverschlüsse und deren Gebrauchstauglichkeit zwischen Ausschreibendem und Hersteller abgestimmt werden.
