Die ÖNORM EN 1993-3-2 ist in Österreich nur zusammen mit dem nationalen Anhang ÖNORM B 1993-3-2 (in Vorbereitung) anzuwenden. Die ÖNORM EN 1993-3-2 behandelt die Bemessung und Konstruktion vertikaler Stahlschornsteine mit zylindrischer oder konischer Form. Sie schließt Schornsteine ein, die als Kragsysem ausgebildet oder auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen abgestützt oder abgespannt sind. Die Regeln in diesem Teil ergänzen die Regeln von ÖNORM EN 1993-1-1. Der Teil 3-2 befasst sich nur mit den Belangen der Standsicherheit (Festigkeit, Stabilität, Ermüdung) von Stahlschornsteinen. Chemische Beanspruchung, thermodynamisches Verhalten und Wärmedämmung sind in ÖNORM EN 13084-1 geregelt, Bemessung und Konstruktion von Innenrohren in ÖNORM EN 13084-6. Stahlbetonfundamente für Stahlschornsteine werden in ÖNORM EN 1992 und ÖNORM EN 1997 behandelt. Siehe auch ÖNORM EN 13084-1, 4.7 und 5.4. Die ÖNORM EN 1993-3-2 enthält keine besonderen Regeln für die Bemessung und Konstruktion im Hinblick auf Erdbeben; diese sind in ÖNORM EN 1998-3 enthalten.
