Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Augenschutzgeräte, die zum Schutz gegen unbeabsichtigt einwirkende Laserstrahlung nach EN 60825-1:2007 im Spektralbereich zwischen 180 nm (0,18 µm) und 1000 µm Verwendung finden. Sie legt die Anforderungen, Prüfverfahren und die Kennzeichnung fest. Einen Leitfaden für die Auswahl und die Anwendung von Laserschutzbrillen und Filtern in Geräten gibt der informative Anhang B. Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für Schutzgeräte gegen absichtliche Laserstrahlenexposition. Für Laser-Justierbrillen gilt EN 208. Bevor ein Augenschutz nach dieser Europäischen Norm ausgewählt wird, sollte zuerst eine Risikoanalyse durchgeführt werden (siehe Anhang B).
