Diese Norm legt die Anforderungen an gewichtsoptimierte, feuerbeständige, ungeschirmte elektrische Leitungen zur Verwendung in elektrischen Bordnetzen von Luftfahrzeugen bei Betriebstemperaturen zwischen 65 °C und 260 °C fest. Einadrige Leitungen sind nach EN 3838 mit UV-Laser bedruckbar; die Kennzeichnung durch UV-Laser ist bei mehradrigen Leitungen nicht zwingend vorgeschrieben.
