Diese Norm beschreibt die Vorbereitung von Platten mit jeglicher gewünschter Faserausrichtung aus gleichgerichteten Kohlenstofffasern oder -gewebe mit wärmehärtbaren Harzen. Der Zweck dieser Norm besteht in der Beschreibung von empfohlenen Prozessen für die Vorbereitung von Platten, aus denen nachfolgend Probekörper maschinell hergestellt werden. Auf diese Art und Weise hergestellte genormte Probekörper können entweder zur Bewertung der Bestandteile, d. h. der Kohlenstofffaserverstärkung, Oberflächen, Harze, Katalysatoren, Härtungsmittel, usw. oder zur Verifizierung der Gesamtqualität der fertigen Erzeugnisse verwendet werden.
