Es ist nicht zur Beurteilung der Wirksamkeit eines Holzschutzmittels gegen Mikroorganismen geeignet. Hauptzweck ist es, die relative Wirksamkeit eines Holzschutzmittels nach Eindringendurch Vakuum-Drucktränkung zu beurteilen. Die Schutzwirkung wird im Vergleich zu der eines Referenzschutzmittels bestimmt, das mittels eines genormten Verfahrens eingebracht wurde.
