Diese Norm legt eine Datenstruktur fest, die als SGML-Dokument-Austauschformat (SDIF) bekannt ist. Sie bezieht sich damit auf ÖNORM EN 28 879. SDIF ermöglicht es, ein in mehreren Einheiten gespeichertes Dokument in einen Datenstrom so für den Austausch zu stapeln, daß für den Empfänger die Wiederherstellung der einzelnen Einheiten möglich wird. SDIF darf nur für den Datenaustausch von SGML-Dokumenten gemäß ÖNORM EN 28 879 verwendet werden.
