Diese Europäische Norm legt die Verfahrensanweisungen für die praktische Messung der Dämpfung und Dämpfungsschwankungen in Lichtwellenleitern oder optischen Leitungen fest (beide nachstehend Glasfaser genannt). Verfahren A und B dienen zur Abnahmeprüfung für Glasfaserkabel und sind an Leitungslängen über 1 km durchzuführen. Verfahren C dient zur Dämpfungsmessung, wie sie im Rahmen von Umgebungsund mechanischen Proben erforderlich ist, und ist an Leitungslängen unter 100 m durchzuführen.
