Behandelt sind Filtergeräte mit Haube zur Selbstrettung vor Partikeln, Kohlenmonoxid und anderen bei Bränden auftretenden giftigen Gasen. Festgelegt sind Mindestanforderungen für Geräte, die nur zum einmaligen Gebrauch bestimmt sind. Es werden zwei Typen von Geräten festgelegt; nämlich jene, die dazu bestimmt sind, am Mann getragen zu werden, und jene, die dazu bestimmt sind, gelagert zu werden. Laborprüfungen und praktische Leistungsprüfungen sind enthalten, um die Übereinstimmung mit den Anforderungen feststellen zu können. Nicht behandelt sind Geräte, die zum Einsatz bei gegebenem oder möglichem Sauerstoffmangel (Sauerstoff unter 17 % des Vol.) vorgesehen sind.
