Der vorliegende Teil der Norm legt die Grenzabmaße und Formtoleranzen für warmgewalzte Bänder, Bleche und Platten aus Aluminium und Aluminium-Knetlegierungen fest, die für allgemeine Verwendung bestimmt sind. Er gilt für Erzeugnisse mit einer Dicke von 2,5 mm bis einschließlich 400 mm. Er gilt nicht für Vorwalzbänder, nicht für Spezialerzeugnisse wie z. B. geprägte oder rollgeformte Bänder und Bleche, und nicht für Erzeugnisse,die für Spezialanwendungen, wie beispielsweise Luft- und Raumfahrt eingesetzt werden. Diese werden in gesonderten Nomen abgehandelt. Die zugehörigen technischen Lieferbedingungen sind in der EN 485-1 festgelegt.
