Dieser Teil der Norm EN 485 legt die Grenzabmaße und Formtoleranzen für kaltgewalzte Bänder, Bleche und Platten aus Aluminium und Aluminium-Knetlegierungen fest, die für allgemeine Verwendungen bestimmt sind. Er gilt für Erzeugnisse mit einer Dicke über 0,20 mm bis 50 mm. Er gilt nicht für Vorwalzbänder, nicht für Spezialerzeugnisse wie z. B. geprägte oder rollgeformte Bänder und Bleche und nicht für Erzeugnisse, die für Spezialanwendungen, wie beispielsweise Luft- und Raumfahrt, Getränkedosen usw. eingesetzt werden. Diese werden in gesonderten Europäischen Normen abgehandelt. Die zugehörigen Technischen Lieferbedingungen sind in der EN 485-1 festgelegt.
