Dieser Teil der EN 573 legt einen Bezeichnungsschlüssel für Aluminium und Aluminium-Knetlegierungen fest, die in den entsprechenden Europäischen Normen aufgeführt sind. Er ist ein beschreibender Schlüssel, dessen Grundlage in erster Linie die chemischen Symbole sind. Die Bezeichnungen nach dieser Norm sind hauptsächlich als Ergänzung zu dem numerischen Bezeichnungssystem (4 Ziffern) vorgesehen, welches in Teil 1 der EN 573 beschrieben ist. Wenn die Bezeichnung mit chemischen Symbolen angewendet wird, ist sie in eckigen Klammern nach der numerischen Bezeichnung vorzunehmen. Diese Norm gilt für Produkte aus Knetwerkstoffen und für das entsprechende Vormaterial (z.B. Walz- und Preßbarren oder Knetvormaterial für Schmiedestücke). Sie gilt nicht für: - Masseln, - Gußerzeugnisse, - Verbundprodukte, d.h. Produkte, die außer Aluminium und seinen Legierungen andere metallische oder nichtmetallische Werkstoffe enthalten, - Produkte der Pulvermetallurgie.
