Diese Europäische Norm gilt für selbstschließende Auslaufventile und Mischbatterien für die Ausrüstung von Sanitärausstattungsgegenständen, die in der Hygiene dienenden Räumen (Waschräumen) installiert werden. Sie gilt nicht für Urinal- und WC-Spüler und nicht für selbsttätig öffnende Armaturen. Die Norm hat den Zweck, die Kennzeichnung, Identifizierung, chemische und hygienische Anforderungen, Maße, Dichtheit, Druckfestigkeit, hydraulische Anforderungen, mechanische Dauerfestigkeit und Geräuschverhalten von Selbstschlussarmaturen festzulegen. Die in dieser Norm beschriebenen Prüfungen sind Typprüfungen (Laborprüfungen) und nicht für die Fertigungskontrolle vorgesehen.
