Proben werden von fertigen Holzbauteilen genommen, die in einer Produktionsanlage, von Facharbeitern oder einem Labor hergestellt werden. Das Prüfverfahren kann zusammen mit der in EN 927-2 angegebenen Leistungsanforderung für die weitere Bewertung verwendet werden. Die Menge und Größe des Mikroschaums hängt vom Beschichtungsstoff, dem Substrat, dem Beschichtungsprozess und den Bedingungen ab.
