Diese Europäische Norm definiert und legt Anforderungen und Konformitätskriterien für Zusatzmittel für zementgebundenen Mauermörtel fest. Sie gilt für zwei Arten von Zusatzmitteln, Erstarrungsverzögerer für langzeitverzögerte Mauermörtel und Luftporenbildner/Betonverflüssiger, die sowohl für Mörtel, der fertig gemischt auf die Baustelle geliefert wird, als auch für Mörtel, der auf der Baustelle hergestellt wird, verwendet werden. Festlegungen zur praktischen Anwendung von Zusatzmitteln für Mauermörtel sind nicht Bestandteil dieser Europäischen Norm, sondern werden durch EN 998-1 und EN 998-2 erfasst.
