Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Scherfestigkeit von anaerobisch vernetzenden Flüssigklebstoffen für zylindrische Haltebaugruppen vom Bolzen-Hülse-Typ oder für das Verschließen und Versiegeln von Verbindungselementen mit Gewinden fest. Dieses Prüfverfahren kann auch für andere Klebstoffe angewendet werden. Diese Prüfung ist für die Erstellung einer Rangordnung und die Qualitätskontrolle von Klebstoffen vorgesehen. Das Ergebnis spiegelt nicht notwendigerweise die Leistung der verwendeten Werkstoffe wider und die Prüfung ist nicht geeignet für die Bereitstellung numerischer Daten für Konstruktionszwecke.
