Es legt Bereiche für die Korngröße und Werte für die scheinbare Dichte, die Härte nach Mohs, den Feuchtegehalt, die Leitfähigkeit des wässrigen Eluates und wasserlösliche Chloride fest. Die in diesem Dokument festgelegten Anforderungen gelten nur für im "Neuzustand" gelieferte Strahlmittel. Sie gelten nicht für Strahlmittel während oder nach der Verwendung. Prüfverfahren für nichtmetallische Strahlmittel sind in den verschiedenen Teilen von ISO 11127 enthalten.
