Diese Internationale Norm legt zusammen mit ISO 15004-1 Mindestanforderungen und Prüfverfahren für Refraktionsbrillen fest, mit denen Refraktionsgläser nach ISO 9801 vor die Augen einer Testperson gehalten werden, um die Sehschärfe zu bestimmen und eine optische Korrektion des Sehens zu ermöglichen. Diese Internationale Norm gilt auch für Glashalter an Kopfbändern, Brillen an Wandarmen und Brillen in der Art von Korrektionsbrillen mit Auflagen an den Ohren und am Nasensattel. Sie gilt für alle Typen von Refraktionsbrillen, einschließlich Halbrand- und drehbaren Glashaltern. Diese Internationale Norm gilt nicht für Phoropter (nach ISO 10341). Wenn Unterschiede vorliegen, hat diese Internationale Norm Vorrang vor ISO 15004-1.
