Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Viskositätszahl (auch als reduzierte Viskosität bezeichnet) und des K-Wertes eines weichmacherfreien Polyvinylchlorid-(PVC-)Harzes aus einem Rohr, Formstück oder Formmasse fest. In dieser Internationalen Norm wird nur das Verfahren zur Abspaltung (oder Separation) des PVC-Harzes beschrieben, während die Bestimmung der Viskositätszahl in ISO 1628-2 angegeben ist. Das Vorhandensein anderer Zusätze oder Polymere kann die Anwendung dieses Verfahrens ausschließen (siehe Abschnitt 3).
