Beschrieben ist eine Filtermethode für Oberflächen mit tiefen Tälern unter einem viel feiner bearbeiteten Plateau mit einem relativ geringen Welligkeitsanteil. Bei Oberflächen dieser Art wird bei Filterung nach ISO 11562 die Referenzlinie durch die Täler unerwünscht beeinflußt. Das in dieser Norm beschriebene besondere Verfahren der Filterung unterdrückt den Einfluss der Täler auf die Referenzlinie, so daß eine besser zutreffende Referenzlinie erzeugt wird.
