Diese Norm legt das Verfahren zur Bestimmung und Überprüfung der Nennwerte der Wärmeleitfähigkeit von Wärmedämmstoffen und Produkten für Dämmzwecke in der Haustechnik und in betriebstechnischen Anlagen in Abhängigkeit von der Temperatur fest. Der informative Anhang B enthält auch ein mögliches Verfahren zur Erstellung der Kurve oder Tabelle der Wärmeleitfähigkeit anhand der Messwerte. Die Norm gilt nicht für Wärmedämmstoffe, die in Gebäude-Außenteilen eingesetzt werden. Wegen der Vorgehensweise bei diesen Produkten wird auf ISO 10456, "Building materials and products . Procedures for determining declared and design thermal values" verwiesen.
