Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Prüfverfahren zum Bestimmen des Schleiers (im Deutschen präzisier eigentlich "Glanzschleier") von Beschichtungen fest. Das Verfahren ist für Schleier-Messungen von Beschichtungen ohne Textur auf flachen, lichtundurchlässigen Substraten anwendbar. Die Anwendung der 20°-Geometrie bedeutet, dass das Verfahren in engem Zusammenhang mit der Messung des Glanzwertes bei 20° nach ISO 2813 steht. Die Anwendung dieses Verfahrens ist vorgesehen, um eine verbesserte Unterscheidung hochglänzender Oberflächen, z. B. bei der Bewertung von Dispergiereigenschaften, zu ermöglichen.
