Dieses Dokument legt Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Höchstzugkraft von Nähten fest, bei dem die Kraft rechtwinklig zur Naht wirkt. Es beschreibt das als Grab-Zugversuch bekannte Verfahren. Das in diesem Dokument beschriebene Verfahren ist anwendbar für gewebte textile Flächengebilde, einschließlich textilen Flächengebilden, die Stretcheigenschaften durch das Vorhandensein einer Elastomerfaser, einer mechanischen oder chemischen Behandlung aufweisen. Es kann auf textile Flächengebilde angewendet werden, die durch andere Techniken hergestellt wurden. Üblicherweise ist es nicht auf Geotextilien, Vliesstoffe, beschichtete textile Flächengebilde, textile Glasfasergewebe und textile Flächengebilde aus Kohlenstofffasern oder Polyolefinfasergarnen anwendbar [2] [3] [4]. Dieses Verfahren ist nur anwendbar für gerade Nähte (entweder aus zuvor genähten Konfektionstextilien entnommen oder aus Laborproben von textilen Flächengebilden hergestellt), nicht für Bogennähte (siehe Anhang B für Betrachtungen zu Nähten). Für dieses Verfahren sind nur Zugprüfmaschinen mit konstanter Prüfgeschwindigkeit (CRE, en: constant rate of extension) einsetzbar.
