Diese Internationale Norm legt die Probenmaße und ein Prüfverfahren für die Scherzugprüfung an Punkt- und Buckelschweißverbindungen mit geprägten Buckeln an überlappenden Blechen aus beliebigen metallischen Werkstoffen der Blechdicke von 0,5 mm bis 10 mm fest, wobei die Schweißverbindungen einen maximalen Durchmesser von 7 Wurzel t haben (dabei ist t die Blechdicke in mm). Das Ziel der Scherzugprüfung ist die Bestimmung der Scherzugkraft, die die Probe ertragen kann.
