Die dimensionelle Tolerierung kann als Plus-Minus-Tolerierung oder als geometrische Spezifikationen in die Zeichnung eingetragen werden. Die durch die Verwendung der Plus-Minus-Tolerierung für andere als lineare oder Winkelgrößenmaße (für Einzeltoleranzen und Allgemeintoleranzen nach z. B. ISO 2768-1 und ISO 8062-3) verursachte Mehrdeutig-keit ist in Anhang A erklärt.
