Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Prüfverfahren für die dynamische Prüfung von einpfostigen enossalen Dentalimplantaten vom transmukosalen Typ zusammen mit ihren vorgefertigten Prothetikteilen fest. Das Verfahren ist zum Vergleich von enossalen Dentalimplantaten mit verschiedenen Konstruktionen oder Größen am besten geeignet. Diese Internationale Norm ist keine Prüfung, um die grundlegenden Ermüdungseigenschaften der Materialien zu ermitteln, aus denen Implantat und Prothetikteile gefertigt sind. Diese Internationale Norm ist nicht anwendbar auf Dentalimplantate mit enossalen Längen kürzer als 8 mm oder auf magnetische Retentionselemente. Obwohl in dieser Internationalen Norm die funktionelle Belastung eines enossalen Dentalimplantates unter den Bedingungen des "ungünstigsten Falls" (en: worst case) simuliert wird, ist diese Norm nicht anwendbar zur Voraussage der in vivo Leistungsfähigkeit eines enossalen Dentalimplantats oder eines Zahnersatzes, besonders wenn für einen Zahnersatz mehrere enossale Dentalimplantate verwendet werden.
