Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Ermittlung der Ausgleichskonzentration von Formaldehyd (Methanal) aus Formaldehyd emittierenden Beschichtungen und Melaminschaumstoffen in einem kleinen Prüfraum fest. Sie beschreibt die Bestimmung der Ausgleichskonzentration von Formaldehyd, die sich in Luft bei 23 °C und 50 % relativer Luftfeuchte einstellt. Die Prüfung ist praxisnah und im Labormaßstab durchführbar. Eine Korrelation mit Werten, die sich in einem großen Prüfraum von 40 mł am gleichen Probematerial ergeben, ist nachgewiesen worden. Das mit geringerem Aufwand durchführbare Verfahren ist deshalb zur Vorprüfung auf einzuhaltende Grenzwerte geeignet.
