Diese Norm legt die Anforderungen für die Konstruktion, Herstellung und Prüfung von vier Haupttypen von gewickelten Metallschläuchen und Schlauchleitungen fest, von denen lediglich eine Bauart für Anwendungsfälle unter Druckbeanspruchung vorgesehen ist. Die vier Bauarten sind Schläuche mit einfacher Überlappung, mit oder ohne Dichtung, sowie mit doppelter Überlappung, mit oder ohne Dichtung, wobei für letztere maximal zulässige Drücke bis 40 bar gelten. Diese Schläuche und Schlauchleitungen können in Nennweiten DN 6 bis DN 500 geliefert werden und je nach den für die Herstellung verwendeten Werkstoffen bei Temperaturen bis 600 °C betrieben werden.
