Dieser Teil von ISO 15614 ist Teil einer Normenreihe, Einzelheiten zu dieser Normenreihe sind in EN ISO 15607:2003, Anhang A, angegeben. Diese Norm legt die Bedingungen fest, unter denen die Schweißanweisung für das Fertigungsschweißen von Aluminiumguss durch Schweißverfahrensprüfungen qualifiziert wird. Sie gilt nicht für irgendeine Art von Reparatur-schweißungen. Für die Verbindungsschweißungen ist ISO 15614-2 anzuwenden. Das Lichtbogenschweißen von Aluminiumguss umfasst die folgenden Schweißprozesse nach ISO 4063: 131 Metall-Inertgasschweißen, MIG-Schweißen; 141 Wolfram-Inertgasschweißen, WIG-Schweißen; 15 Plasmaschweißen. Andere Schmelzschweißprozesse entsprechend Vereinbarung. Schutzgase, die bei diesen Schweißprozessen eingesetzt werden, sind: Argon (ISO 14175 I 1); Helium (ISO 14175 I 2); Argon-Helium-Mischgas (ISO 14175 I 3). Andere Schutzgase nach Vereinbarung.
