Dieser Teil von ISO 15616 enthält Mindestanforderungen für Abnahmeprüfungen unter Anwendung praktischer Prüfverfahren für CO2-Laserstrahlanlagen zum Qualitätsschweißen und -schneiden in zwei Dimensionen (2D), bei denen das Werkstück auf der Platte befestigt ist und sich die Optik bewegt. Dieser Teil von ISO 15616 gilt weder für CO2-Laserstrahlanlagen, die einen Gelenk(arm)roboter nutzen, noch für Arbeitsplätze wie Schweißpositioniervorrichtungen, feststehende Plattenschneider usw. Dieser Teil von ISO 15616 behandelt keine Schutzvorrichtungen, wie z. B. jene für das Auswerfen von Spänen und Partikeln, die beim Schweißen und Schneiden erzeugt werden.
