Dieses Dokument beschreibt Verfahren für die Bestimmung der mikrobiellen Bodenatmung von aeroben, ungesättigten Böden. Die Verfahren eignen sich zur Bestimmung der Sauerstoff-Aufnahme oder Kohlenstoffdioxid-Abgabe mit (substratinduzierte Atmung) oder ohne Substratzugabe (Basalatmung). Die Messung der Bodenatmung kann für folgende Anwendungen eingesetzt werden: Bestimmung der mikrobiellen Aktivität von Böden; Ermittlung der Wirkung von Zusätzen (Nährstoffe, Schadstoffe, Bodenverbesserungsmittel usw.) auf die Umsatzleistungen von Mikroorganismen; Bestimmung der mikrobiellen Biomasse; Bestimmung des metabolischen Quotienten.
