Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zum Prüfen von nicht gealterten Ein- oder Mehrschichtsystemen auf Überarbeitbarkeit und Überlackierbarkeit mit einem Beschichtungsstoff fest, der z. B. zur Reparatur beschädigter Stellen während oder nach der Montage bestimmt ist. Da die Prüfung auf Überarbeitbarkeit und Überlackierbarkeit unter verschiedenen Bedingungen durchgeführt werden kann, gibt diese Internationale Norm nur ein Schema für die Durchführung an und listet die wesentlichen Einflussgrößen auf. Das vorhandene Ein- oder Mehrschichtsystem wird Beschichtung A und das neue Ein- oder Mehrschichtsystem Beschichtung B genannt. Gleiches gilt sinngemäß für die entsprechenden Beschichtungsstoffe.
