Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von freiem und freigesetztem Formaldehyd in Leder fest. Dieses Verfahren, das auf kolorimetrischer Analyse beruht, ist nicht für die Anwendung zur genauen quantitativen Bestimmung von Formaldehyd vorgesehen. Der Formaldehydgehalt ist die Menge an freiem Formaldehyd und durch Hydrolyse freigesetztem Formaldehyd, die in einem wässrigen Extrakt, der unter standardisierten Bedingungen aus dem Leder erhalten wurde, enthalten ist. Dieses Verfahren ist nicht vollständig selektiv für Formaldehyd. Andere Bestandteile wie extrahierte Farbstoffe könnten bei 412 nm ebenfalls interferieren.
