Die vorliegende Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Formaldehydemission aus Leder fest. Dieses Verfahren beruht auf der Hochleistungs-Flüssigkeitschromatografie (HPLC). Es ist ein selektives Verfahren und ermöglicht auch das Beobachten der Emission anderer niedermolekularer Aldehyde und Ketone. ISO 17226-3 bezieht sich auf die Freisetzung von Formaldehyd in die Gasphase. Folglich sind sie mit den in Teil 1 und Teil 2 beschriebenen Ergebnissen der Verfahren nicht vergleichbar, die auf der Extraktion mit Wasser beruhen.
