Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Bleichindex zur Beurteilung der Schädigung (DOBI) (en: deterioration of bleachability index, DOBI) und des Carotingehalts von rohem Palmöl und dessen Anteilen durch spektrophotometrische Untersuchung im ultravioletten und sichtbaren Bereich des Spektrums fest. Das Verfahren ist ebenfalls für pflanzliche Öle geeignet, bei denen der größere Teil ihrer Farbe auf carotinoiden Pigmenten beruht. Sie ist nicht auf Öle mit signifikanten Chlorophyllkonzentrationen anwendbar.
