Es gilt für Wärmedämmprodukte innerhalb eines Temperaturbereichs von -196 °C bis 850 °C, was aber von der möglichen Temperaturbegrenzung für die Probekörper abhängt. Es gilt nicht für Produkte, die während der Prüfung aufgrund des Verlusts von Hydratwasser Maßänderungen erfahren oder die anderen Gefügeveränderungen unterliegen.
