Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Verformung von dichten feuerfesten Erzeugnissen und geformten feuerfesten Erzeugnissen für Wärmedämmzwecke fest, die bei einer gleichmäßig steigenden Temperatur einem konstanten Druck (Druckerweichen) unterworfen und mittels eines Differentialverfahrens bewertet werden. Die Bestimmung ist bis zu einer Höchsttemperatur von 1 700 °C anwendbar.
