Diese Norm legt eine Kurzzeitprüfung fest, in der Quecksilber(I)nitrat angewendet wird, um das Vorhandensein von (inneren) Restspannungen in Halbzeug aus Kupfer und Kupfer-Knetlegierungen festzustellen, die zu Werkstoffehlern als Folge von Spannungsrißkorrosion bei der Beanspruchung oder während der Lagerung führen können. Da dieses Verfahren auch zur Prüfung von zusammengesetzten Bauteilen oder teilweise zusammengesetzen Bauteilen angewendet wird, sie jedoch nicht für diesen Zweck entwickelt worden ist, dürften in einem solchen Fall einige Änderungen erforderlich sein.
