Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Gehalts an schweren Fremdstoffen (HEM, en: heavy extraneous materials) größer als 3,15 mm durch Anwendung einer Schwimm-Sink-Trennung in Kombination mit einer Aufschlämmung fest. Dieses Dokument ist anwendbar auf holzartige Biomasse nach ISO 17225-1 und insbesondere auf Schredderholz nach ISO 17225-9. ANMERKUNG 1 Dieses Verfahren ist für die Bestimmung des Gehalts an Verunreinigungen größer als 3,15 mm mit einer spezifischen Dichte von > 1 g/cm3, wie z. B. Steine, Glas, Gummi, Metall und bestimmte Kunststoffarten, ausgelegt. ANMERKUNG 2 Während der Probenverarbeitung kann auch eine manuelle Sortierung der leichten Verunreinigungen mit einer spezifischen Dichte von = 1 g/cm3 (z. B. Kunststofffolie) erfolgen. ANMERKUNG 3 Einige schwere Fremdstoffe (z. B. Tonklumpen) können auseinanderfallen, wenn sie in Wasser getaucht werden. ANMERKUNG 4 Schwere Fremdstoffe, die kleiner als 3,15 mm sind, können bei der Zerkleinerung des Materials zur Herstellung von Laborproben das Mahlwerk beschädigen.
