Dieses Dokument legt ein Prüfverfahren zum Beurteilen der Kratzfestigkeit von organischen Beschichtungen fest, insbesondere von Beschichtungen die in der Automobilindustrie verwendet werden (d. h. zum Beurteilen der Beständigkeit in Waschanlagen). Im Labor wird die maschinelle Fahrzeugreinigung mit rotierenden Bürsten unter Verwendung von synthetischem Schmutz simuliert. Dabei orientieren sich die hier festgelegten Prüfbedingungen weitestgehend an den Verhältnissen in einer Autowaschanlage. Das Verfahren ist auch für Kunststofffolien und Kunststoff-Anbauteile anwendbar, wenn die Prüfparameter entsprechend gewählt werden.
