Diese Norm legt das Verfahren zur Bestimmung der partiellen Säurezahl (Verfahren A) und zwei alternative Verfahren zu Bestimmung der Gesamtsäurezahl (Verfahren B und Verfahren C) von ungesättigten Polyesterharzen fest. Sie kann Daten für die Qualitätskontrolle liefern, daraus ergibt sich die Annahme oder Ablehnung nach den Bedingungen der Festlegung. Weiterhin wird das Bestimmungsverfahren bei der Forschung und Entwicklung benutzt und es dient zur Kontrolle der vollständigen Polykondensation der Polyester.
