Diese Internationale Norm legt die Anforderungen für die Härteprüfung an Querschnitten von schmalen mit Laser- und Elektronenstrahl geschweißten Verbindungen an metallischen Werkstoffen fest. Sie umfasst die Vickers- und Knoop-Härteprüfungen nach ISO 6507-1 und ISO 4545 mit Prüfkräften von 0,098 N bis knapp unter 98 N (HV 0,01 bis knapp unter HV 10) bei der Vickers-Härteprüfung und Prüfkräften bis einschließlich 9,8 N (knapp unter HK 1) bei der Knoop-Härteprüfung. Diese Internationale Norm ist anwendbar für Schweißungen mit oder ohne Fülldraht. Sie ist möglicherweise nicht auf das Prüfen von Laser-Metallschutzgas-Hybridschweißungen anwendbar. Internationale Normen für eine Härteprüfung von Schweißungen ohne ein schmales Profil sind in ISO 9015-1 und ISO 9015-2 enthalten.
