Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Cloudpoints unter Anwendung eines stufenweisen Abkühlverfahrens fest, die Messung erfolgt dabei durch automatisch arbeitende Geräte mit optischer Detektion. Das Verfahren gilt für Destillatkraftstoffe, Fettsäure-Methylester (FAME) und paraffinische Dieselkraftstoffe sowie Mischungen aus diesen, ebenso für solche, die Fließverbesserer oder sonstige Additive enthalten, die für die Verwendung in Dieselmotoren und Haushalts-Heizanlagen vorgesehen sind. Das Verfahren kann auf weitere Produkte, wie z. B. pflanzliche Öle oder Schmierstoffe, angewendet werden, jedoch wurde diese Art von Produkten nicht in dem Ringversuch (en: interlaboratory study, ILS) beurteilt und somit stehen keine Präzisionsdaten zur Verfügung.
