Dieses Dokument legt Anforderungen an Auslegung, Baumusterprüfung, Kennzeichnung sowie Herstellungsprüfungen und -überprüfungen für Kugelhähne fest, die als: a) Verschlüsse von wiederbefüllbaren ortsbewegliche Gasflaschen, Druckfässern und Großflaschen; b) Hauptabsperrventile für Flaschenbündel; c) Ventile für Güter-Transporteinheiten (z. B. Anhänger, Batterie-Fahrzeuge und MEGCs [en: multi-element gas containers]); für verdichtete Gase, verflüssigte Gase und gelöste Gase verwendet werden. Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Kugelhähne für: - oxidierende Gase wie in ISO 10156 festgelegt; - giftige Gase (d. h. in ISO 10298 aufgeführte Gase mit einem LC50-Wert kleiner oder gleich 5 000 ppm und - Acetylen für Einzel-Gasflaschen, Druckfässer und Großflaschen. Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Kugelhähne für Flüssiggas (LPG, en: liquefied petroleum gas), Kryo-Ausrüstung, tragbare Feuerlöscher und Flaschen für Atemschutzgeräte.
