Dieser Teil von ISO 23953 legt Anforderungen an die Konstruktion, Eigenschaften und Leistung von Verkaufskühlmöbeln für den Verkauf und die Ausstellung von Lebensmittelerzeugnissen fest. Er legt Prüfbedingungen und Prüfverfahren für den Nachweis der Erfüllung dieser Anforderungen fest sowie für die Klassifizierung der Möbel, ihre Kennzeichnung und die Liste der vom Hersteller anzugebenden Eigenschaften. Er gilt nicht für Verkaufskühlautomaten, gewerbliche Getränkekühler, die unter ISO 22044 fallen, und Speiseeis-Gefriermaschinen, die unter ISO 22043 fallen. Er gilt ebenfalls nicht für Lagermöbel oder Möbel, die beispielsweise für Catering-Zwecke oder Nicht-Einzelhandelskühlanwendungen bestimmt sind. Die Norm ist nicht dazu bestimmt, die Lagertemperatur für Lebensmittelerzeugnisse festzulegen.
