Dieser Teil der ISO 26203 enthält Anforderungen zur Prüfung von metallischen Werkstoffen. Es sind lediglich Beispiele für die Prüfung von Flachproben gegeben. Es können jedoch auch andere Geometrien geprüft werden. Der Anwendungsbereich erstreckt sich über einen Dehngeschwindigkeitsbereich von 10 hoch minus 2 s hoch minus 1 bis 10 hoch 3 s hoch minus 1. Falls nicht anders festgelegt, werden die Prüfungen zwischen 10 °C und 35 °C und unter Anwendung einer servohydraulischen Prüfmaschine durchgeführt.
