Diese Internationale Norm legt galvanische Überzüge aus Zinn-Cobalt-Legierungen mit einer Zusammensetzung von etwa 75 % (Massenanteil) bis 80 % (Massenanteil) Zinn, Rest Cobalt, als möglichen Ersatz für dekorative Chromüberzüge mit einer Dicke des Überzugs von 0,1 μm bis 0,3 μm fest. Härte und Verschleißwiderstand von Zinn-Cobalt-Überzügen entsprechen nicht den Eigenschaften von Chromüberzügen, sind aber vergleichbar mit denen von Zinn-Nickel-Legierungsüberzügen. Zinn-Cobalt-Legierungsüberzüge können auf Trommel- oder Gestellware aufgebracht werden. Diese Internationale Norm stellt keine Anforderungen an den Oberflächenzustand des Grundmetalls vor der galvanischen Metallabscheidung.
